Muammer Akarsu

Muammer Akarsu was born in Sakarya in 1958. His passion for design and creation began at a young age, starting in elementary school. As a child, he worked in a carpentry workshop to earn his own money. With a natural talent, he specialized and mastered production techniques. At the age of 20, he founded his own company in Istanbul.

Though small, his company designed and produced its own models, quickly gaining popularity in the market and establishing Muammer as a respected name in the industry. In 2008, even before Moreno was established, he began collaborating with Şükrü Serbest, founder of the Seçkin Büro group, which Moreno is part of. His extensive experience allowed him to lead the production department and build a dedicated team, ultimately leading to the creation of the Moreno brand in 2012.

Muammer’s approach to design is inclusive, with a strong commercial appeal and advanced ergonomics. This laid the foundation for Moreno’s unique culture. The first major success of the partnership was the Ekin line, patented by Muammer and 100% produced by Moreno, which helped the brand enter the international market. This was followed by a series of successful designs, including Retro, Icon, Fresh, Nexo, Bump, Bump XL, and, most recently, Cave.
